Pattison Lake Overview

Pattison Lake is a 254.6-acre lowland lake at 162 feet elevation southeast of Lacey, in Thurston County. Its center sits at roughly 46.9948° N, 122.7774° W.

The lake is open to fishing year-round and offers good opportunity for stocked rainbow trout, with naturally reproducing largemouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, and rock bass also present.

One thing every boater should know before trailering here: Pattison Lake has a 5 mph speed limit year-round. It is a quiet-water lake by rule, not just by nature — which is exactly why paddlers and anglers like it.

Trout Derby: Pattison Lake is part of WDFW's 2026 Trout Derby, with five tagged-fish prizes still waiting to be claimed as of September 2026.

Two-pole fishing is allowed with the appropriate endorsement. The 5 mph speed limit applies year-round.

Public Access

Public access to Pattison Lake is via the WDFW water access site on the northeast corner of the lake, which has a boat launch, parking, and two toilets.

Bank angling is limited to the boat ramp area — most of the shoreline is privately held residential land. A Discover Pass or WDFW Vehicle Access Pass is generally required; confirm current requirements with WDFW.

WDFW rates shoreline access as good, specifically at the boat ramp.
