What's Being Built: Providence Expansion in Lacey
Providence is expanding its Regional Cancer System clinic on 3rd Avenue SE — a modest 2,834-square-foot addition, not a hospital tower. Here's what the City's records show.
4525 3rd Avenue SE, Lacey, WA
Short answer: it's not the hospital. When Lacey residents hear "Providence expansion," many picture a new tower at Providence St. Peter Hospital. The project currently listed by the City of Lacey (#26-0057) is smaller and more specific: a 2,834-square-foot expansion to the east side of the existing Providence Regional Cancer System medical facility at 4525 3rd Avenue SE.
What we know
- The addition goes on the east side of the existing cancer system clinic, and is designed to strengthen the streetscape along 3rd Avenue SE.
- The design adds storefront glazing, articulated wall planes, sunshades, varied parapets, and material transitions — with brick veneer, metal panels, and glazing intended to match the surrounding medical campus.
- Applications were submitted in May 2026: Site Plan Review, Woodland District review, and Commercial Design Review, with a Notice of Application posted the same month.
- The applicant is Providence Health & Services; the City's associate planner for the project is Reace Fant.
What we don't know yet
- Whether the City has issued its Site Plan Review decision (no decision was posted as of October 5, 2026).
- A construction start date or opening date — none has been announced.
