Why Are So Many Hotels Being Built in Lacey?
Two hotel projects are confirmed in Lacey's pipeline — a 136-room Residence Inn by Marriott at Britton Plaza and a Homewood Suites & Tru by Hilton at Hogum Bay. Here's what the records show.

Hotel cranes are a new sight in Lacey. Two projects are confirmed in the city's pipeline right now, and both target the same corridors — Marvin Road and Hogum Bay Road near I-5.
What we know
Residence Inn by Marriott — 2565 Marvin Road NE (Britton Plaza). Kalyan Lacey Hotel LLC is proposing a 136-room hotel of roughly 115,655 gross square feet with 128 parking stalls. The City reviewed the project under #24-0224, adopting SEPA documents with a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance in August 2024; an earlier version of the same hotel concept was reviewed as #22-0081, "Marriott Hotel at Britton Plaza."
Homewood Suites & Tru by Hilton — 2315 Hogum Bay Road NE. 111 Gateway Enterprises LLC received Site Plan Review approval with a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance in October 2024 for a dual-branded hotel project.
Both sites sit along the I-5 corridor that already carries Lacey's busiest hotel and hospitality cluster — the same corridor as the Hawks Prairie business parks and the state-office and JBLM commuter traffic.
What we don't know yet
- Construction start dates and opening dates — none announced for either project.
