Planning Commission to weigh rezoning Willamette Drive site for housing
A proposed zoning change would convert nearly 2 acres of Neighborhood Commercial land at 3202–3220 Willamette Drive NE to High Density Residential — in Lacey's Meridian Campus area.

Housing could replace commercial zoning on a small but notable Meridian Campus parcel. Per The JOLT News (Kameko Marquez, Aug. 13, 2026), the Lacey Planning Commission was set to hear a request to rezone two undeveloped parcels at 3202 and 3220 Willamette Drive NE — converting nearly 2 acres from Neighborhood Commercial to High Density Residential.
The site sits on the Willamette Drive corridor in north Lacey's Meridian Campus area, where a roundabout project at Willamette/Campus Glen is already under city review and the Meridian Market & Gas project is approved.
Rezoning is how housing growth actually gets approved: a High Density Residential designation would open the parcels to multifamily development. Check the City's public notices page for the hearing outcome, and we'll update this story once a decision lands.
