Neighborhood Guide

Hicks Lake

Wooded southeast Lacey neighborhoods around 162-acre Hicks Lake, with shoreline access at Wanschers Community Park and a WDFW boat launch.

The Hicks Lake area covers the wooded southeast side of Lacey, where established neighborhoods wrap around the 162-acre lake.

Why people pick it

Evergreen shoreline, two public access points (Wanschers Community Park and the WDFW boat launch), and a managed trout fishery that is stocked annually — a genuinely lake-centered lifestyle inside the city, minutes from the Pacific Avenue corridor.

McClanahan Village & Neil Commons

5025 Mullen Rd SE (5000 block of Mullen Road SE), Lacey, WA 98503

The Housing Authority of Thurston County is proposing 60 cottage-style affordable rental units on a 5.32-acre parcel in the 5000 block of Mullen Road SE — McClanahan Village on the southern lot and Neil Commons on the northern lot — under one City application (#26-0136 PRD). 36 of the 60 units will be dedicated to seniors. The City of Lacey acquired the property from LOTT Clean Water Alliance and sold it to the Housing Authority for $1. The project is named for Neil McClanahan, a former Thurston County undersheriff and Housing Authority board member.
